-Visuals- 9/10
The visuals in this game are stunning. The game takes place mostly in a city and everything looks perfect. The cut scenes are done in a comic book style. It is creative but not very well done. Everything else is amazing though.
-Sound- 7/10
Most gun sounds are the same and when a helicopter is nearby it is often to loud to hear anything else. You also have the voice of another character letting you know where enemies are. It can be a lot at once and get annoying. I have to say, one of my favorite parts of this game is the sound of falling from a 50 story building.
-Gameplay- 9/10
Mirror's Edge is a first-person game, but you can't really call it a shooter. It is a first-person platformer. You do have the option of shooting, but it is more practical to run from enemies. A big part of the gameplay is coloring. Whenever you see something red, that is where you need to be. Over time the idea is engraved in your brain and the red objects blend in. A good example is that if the walls of a hallway are painted red you go down that hallway. They don't make it obvious, but you get it without having to be told exactly what to do. The controls are hard to master at first, making the game difficult, but you'll stop running of of buildings eventually.
-Story- 10/10
This game is set in a world similar to that of George Orwell's 1984. The government is constantly watching everyone and your job is to get around it. You play as Faith. Faith is a runner, someone who delivers messages in secret so that the city's security can't tap into their communications. After a series of events you have to stop your routine jobs to help out your sister. This is really all I can say without giving away the whole game. I have to say it is one of the most creative and well executed stories I have seen in a while, so I have to give it a 10/10.
-Overall- 9/10
The developers definitely put a lot of time into this game making it perfect. The only problem I had with the game was the chaos of some of the action sequences. Getting through a squat team, outrunning a helicopter, and avoiding snipers really gets the adrenaline pumping. I did not expect a lot from this game when I first got it, but now that it has been out for a while and the price has dropped, this game is worth the buy.
