-Visuals- 9.8/10
No different than the first one, and that is pretty much a given. I cannot imagine graphics, especially for the PS2, getting much better. The backgrounds are breath taking, the enemies extremely well rendered and their are seldom any glitches or jerking at all. Kratos expressions are one of the best I've ever sen in any game, it is blatantly obvious when he is angry, which is most of the time, and when he shows anguish you actually feel his pain. A simply remarkable visual feast.
-Sound- 9.5/10
Dos this game have sounds? You mean to tell me those are sound effects and not actual sounds? Seriously, the sound effects may be the best in any PS2 game on the market. Not only do they fit pretty much exactly with what is going on but they mirror and match exactly what is going on. All the other developers should take notice. A sound track should match the feel and ambiance yes, but it should also match what is happening on the screen at any given time. <--copied from review of God of War, because it's pretty much the same!
-Gameplay- 8.8/10
Everything is almost identical to part one. And for the most part that is a really good thing. I do have the same complaint , with an added issue, as I did with the first game. It seems you will fight non-stop for twenty minutes or so and then suddenly have some puzzle to solve, and here's my complaint. The puzzles are not hard but they are annoying. I felt they sometimes detracted a bit from the ebb and flow in the first game and here I think they do so even more. It really does feel as if the developers, SCE Studios, simply said, "OK, stop, it's puzzle time". Slash, hack, run, fight...wait...move this block there, put that one there and hold your eye just this way while balancing on one foot, OK, so I'm exaggerating a bit, but you get the picture.
-Story- 9/10
OK, so...you've supplanted Ares as the new god of war, now it's time for the carnage to really begin. The other gods decide you now have too much power and if Ares could be defeated then any of them can, so you are kicked out of the godhood. The story revolves around you attempting to, what else, exact revenge. Fans of Greek mythology will love this as much, and maybe more than the first one simply based on the story, but if you boil it down it's once again Kratos attempting revenge on people/things/gods who wronged him.
-Overall- 9.4/10
Once again a really great game for the PS2. And once again I feel that the slight gameplay issues are the only thing that detract it from being one of the greatest PS2 games out there. I still highly recommend it though, it's got a great story, the mechanics are awesome and the fighting is simply fun and challenging while not being so hard to master (such as games where it takes 10 buttons mashed in a certain order to accomplish anything) that it's no fun.
