-Visual- 9.4/10-
Konami did it again. The game looks great and most of the background textures are nice. The new camo system worked perfectly and the bosses look great. That being said, the fire doesn't look that good and the cut scenes could be better. While the look of it is great and the first person mode in the cut scenes is a nice addition, I just can't stand how the mouths do not match the words at all.
-Sound- 9/10-
Most of the voice actors did an average job. David Hayter has come under fire for his acting of Snake which was no where near his best. While nothing will top his MGS1 performance, this could have been a lot better. The good things are the ambience sounds, birds chirping, frogs croaking, and your stomach growling.
-Gameplay- 9.8/10
The game is one of the best to play through because bosses are a lot more fun than they have been. A sniper battle with The End can last 1- 3 hours depending on how you play. The game isn't too long, about 20 hours and has a lot of unlockables. The stupid over the head camera angle is back making it very tough on one boss battle.
-Story- 9.5/10
Much better than MGS2. The story has the twists and turns that the series has but not to the point that you have no clue whats going on (MGS2). You take control of Naked Snake (Big Boss) when he works for FOX. This story tells about the rise of the Patriots and the beginning of Metal Gear.
-Overall- 9.7/10
One of the better games for the PS2. There are plenty of unlockables and the ranking system at the end of the game is better. If you are looking for a good stealth game, this is the one to get. Camo makes sneaking around a lot more fun, and there is a wide range of weapons and unlockable camos.Hideo Kojima and Konami make a perfect pair, and this game proves it.
