-Visuals- 9.4/10
OK...now what's good is unreal good and I'm going to discuss that first. The textures for the background objects, walls, stairs, misc equipment laying around, etc. is awesome. The scope is also incredible once you are actually outside the castle where you start. The monsters themselves are all rendered nicely and Dante looks really, really good. What really makes this all so good is the usage of color schemes in my opinion. Sure, the rendering is great but the usage of the colors is what makes it incredible, subtle tons of gray mixed with darkest shadows of black and then the great brighter tones thrown in simply make for an awesome looking game!. Now, the only issues I have a re sometimes seen in the angles, it's simply at times a bit too concise in the angles, but it's not really a huge deal at all, great job for an older game especially!
-Sound- 9.2/10
The sound track is great in the fact that the heavy rock influenced music fits the gothic feel of the game wonderfully, especially during the battles it really makes the gaming experience so much better than it could have been. The voice overs as well are done wonderfully, Dante's dry humor is great!
-Gameplay- 9.6/10
You like fighting with style you will absolutely love this game! It's not enough to destroy your enemies you have to do it with style, lol! The upgradeable weapons (especially the sword) are a great addition and it's not too difficult to get those upgrades, simply do good. The controls are spot on, Dante is unreal responsive to what you tell him to do and the movements are precise and concise as well. The only slight issue, and it's seldom is with the semi-stationary cameras, every now and then you might find yourself confronted with a weird angle, but quick movement on your part and that will be resolved easily. Over all simply wonderfully done
-Story- 9.2/10
Dante is is the son of a demon prince, Sparta, who fell in love with human woman and rebelled against the Demon Prince banishing him to the netherworld 2000 years ago. Now it's time for a comeback and Dante is recruited to stop him...the story starts off great and continues to get better and better as you progress.
-Overall- 9.4/10
Easily 14 hours or so and even more if you take your time and explore the areas more. And I might add it's pretty much non-stop action, some slight puzzles which in no way stop the ebb and flow of the game. Take note developers, this is a great design for how a game should be designed.
