-Visuals- 9.5/10
Things that blow up need to look good. BFBC2 likes to blow things up, and guess what? Explosions look awesome. You get a sense as the player that you are in a battlefield. Dust is flying up everywhere, debris falling, and destructible environments look great. Facial animations are, well, there. Thats not a good thing or a bad thing.
-Sound- 9.5/10
Dice prides itself on getting realistic sound, and they do just that with this game. The visuals and audio both immerse you in a virtual battlefield making the game more enjoyable to play. The voice acting is on par with my standards. No one wowed me with their performance, but then again, there wasn't any overly bad voice acting. The cursing seemed forced and when it's forced, it's unnecessary.
-Gameplay- 7.5/10
This may be the easiest FPS I have ever played. I died maybe once the entire game and never felt challenged. I could crank up the difficulty, but in all honesty, the game wasn't fun enough for me to want it to challenge me.
Like most FPS games, the game sticks to a tried and true formula. You are a superman of sorts. You are apparently proficient at sniping, stealth, heavy weapons, tank driving, technology, and spotting for aircraft. It's kind of silly in fact. You have no weakness. Missions are made up of simply getting from Point A to Point B and killing as many enemies as you can along the way. While most games are Point A to Point B games, they at least mask it in some sort of story. Which brings me to my next point.
Story- 6/10
I didn't even know I finished the game until the credits rolled. The story that was there was tired and cliched. Blah blah blah Russians, betrayal, super weapon. No amount of pretty visuals can make me ignore a crappy story. I felt no connection to any characters what so ever, so my will to see the game to the end was severely tested.
-Overall- 8/10
If you want a mindless romp through thousands of Russian soldiers, by all means, by this game. If you want a good story with believable characters and innovative game play, stay away. If you want to waster 3 hours (thats about how long the game took me) buy this game up. Multiplayer has been well received, but I'm not spending any more time frustrating myself with this game. (BF 1943 on the other hand...)
