-Visuals- 9/10
OK, this is not, I repeat not the best looking game there is, or even one of the better ones. What it is though is a visual treat. You will spend so much of your time laughing at the visuals that you almost need a second person to help you spot things and guide you to them. The attention to detail is superb in the sense that everything is to scale, whether it's a small ball, a bird, a cat or even a huge building the game keeps everything in that same scale, it's simply hilarious to see what all you can grab.
-Sound- 9/10
The sound effects themselves are very simplistic and spot on, squeaks, meowing, chirping, all are great, but what I love is the absolutely crazy whimsical extremely Japanese sounding soundtrack, the music simply cracks me up, it is simply perfect for the game! However, for whatever reason the songs do not seem quite as cute as in Katamari Damacy
-Gameplay- 9.2/10
A perfect example of easy to play, hard to master. You will certainly have tons of fun maneuvering your Katamari around attempting to pick up larger and larger items as the clock ticks away and I assure you it will get harder and harder as the levels progress to attain the size needed to complete the objective, but isn't that why we play games, for the challenge? This game will certainly provide the challenge. There are some differences from the original game. A couple of levels are not timed, and there is fire in one level, and yes, you can set things on fire by rolling over them, and even snow on one level. But over all it's very close to the original
-Story- 9/10
You've made stars in the first game, now it's time to (eventually) make the Sun. The story is hilarious in aspects in that interludes tell of the King's tragic childhood, maybe that's why he's so hard on the Prince in the first game, lol.
-Overall- 8.9/10
I actually scored it a bit lower than the first one simply because in too many ways it is the first game. There are simply not enough differences to make it an incredible game. And as with Katamari Damacy it is a relatively short game, loads of fun but I'm just not sure we really needed a pretty much exact copy of the original
