-Visuals- 9.5/10
This game is set on a ship which has been destroyed/taken over by some type of alien life form...and it looks like it! The graphics are stunning in almost every way (dead bodies are the only weak point, not quite realistic enough, lol) The halls and destroyed walls are awesome, the holograms are unreal striking and almost all of the background shows an awesome attention to detail (I especially like the hydroponics area, the view from the destroyed bridge and the absolute desolation and destruction of your would be rescuers ship). The alien types are all rendered very well as well and Isaac, the main character is extremely well done in his survival suit! Simply awesome work.
-Sound- 9.4/10
The sounds of the ship are incredibly realistic, whether it's warning alarms, depressurized areas, areas on fire or even the absolute lack of sound in the zero gravity areas, all show an amazing attention to detail and provide great ambiance to the game. The voice acting is superb, the actors manage to convey both fear and terror as well as desperation wonderfully
-Gameplay- 9/10
Ok, this is first and foremost an action game, but there are just enough puzzles thrown in to make it above and beyond the average run of the mill action/adventure game, and I only found one puzzle to be somewhat difficult, and it turned easy as could be once I figured out what to do. The attack buttons and navigation system for everything from your items to quests to examine your database are all extremely simple to navigate, the map feature is for the most part awesome, being 3-d without being to complex to read and changing "weapons" (which are only upgradeable through collecting power nodes and then using a work bench to upgrade)is as easy as moving from one button to another on the D-Pad. Every game should have this much variety and yet be this simple to navigate through. Now I do have one small complaint, pretty much each mission is an exercise in survival to get from point A to Point B and accomplish some set objective, and these can, and do often require quite a bit of back tracking, however if you actually listen to what is going on it all does make sense.
-Story- 9.4/10
The story unfolds as your ship is going into deep space to check on a mining vessel which the powers that be have lost communication with, to make it more interesting your wife is on the ship. Once you arrive you quickly realize that something is amiss...and that something is nothing less than an alien organism killing and taking over the ship's crew, passengers and workers (real, real similar to Aliens....lol) You are a regular Joe schmo who armed with nothing that is truly a weapon (you have a heavy duty "riveter", a flamethrower, a plasma welding gun, etc) and an environmental suit attempt to rescue (which quickly proves problematic, most people are already dead) the crew and then escape once you realize what is going on. There is a tad more to the story as it unfolds but honestly it takes a back seat to simply surviving and escaping...at least until the very end...
-Overall- 9.4/10
This one is incredible, albeit way too short (expect to finish in 12 hrs or so), I wish it had went on for...let's say @20 more hrs, lol, but still overall a great game with really good replay value (some unlock-ables and the story will unfold even more...)
